"The Distinguished Scholar Award [is] given to the senior for whom the pursuit of knowledge and passion for the life of the mind is paramount. This student demonstrates a genuine love of learning and generously advances the level of scholarship for all. The recipient of this award has demonstrated academic excellence by engaging, contributing, and achieving the rigorous curriculum across multiple disciplines. The Distinguished Scholar Award is the highest academic honor bestowed upon a student at Crystal. While all Crystal students are ignited by a passion for learning, this student stands out as an example of someone who equally embodies our values of scholarship, balance, and humility in all aspects of school life. Her teachers have come to know her as a dedicated and hardworking student who always looks for creative ways to solve the problems in front of her. Her teachers also appreciate that she draws connections between ideas from her classes and her many interests outside of school. In each class, when a teacher mentions something about a possible application, this scholar will have already applied that knowledge in a hands-on experiment she shares with the class. Outside of school, she’s a highly decorated robotics champion who displays confidence, leadership, charisma, and persistence to strive for greatness in all aspects of her life. She has led a team that has built a robot that has won awards at world-renowned competitions, created community-minded applications that have made a positive impact, and has uplifted a generation of problems solvers by equipping young girls with the confidence and knowledge to forget their own paths as women in STEM."
